From Principles to Practices: Maximizing Language Development Across the Three Modes

This hands-on workshop will guide educators in developing communication-focused activities and lessons for the three modes (interpretive, presentational, and interpersonal). First, we will focus on setting goals that are informed by the ACTFL proficiency guidelines, and we will review some fundamental aspects of second language acquisition, particularly as they pertain to proficiency-oriented instruction: the roles of input and output, focus on form, and feedback. Then, participants will evaluate, modify, and create activities to put principles into action.
